Anthony Underwood is the founder of Truly Diversified Wealth Management. He is a licensed Minnesota financial advisor and Minnesota Realtor. With a passion for helping everyday hard-working people build real, lasting wealth, Anthony brings a unique, hands-on approach that blends traditional financial planning with real-world asset management. He is also the author of True Diversification: A Basic Guide to Real Diversified Investing, a book that challenges conventional financial thinking and empowers individuals to take control of their financial future. Anthony’s mission is rooted in transparency, education, and alignment, because he believes clients deserve to work with someone who doesn't just talk, but walks along side them.
My Story
I come from a middle-class, blue-collar family. My grandfather owned his own construction business, my father has been a mechanic at the same dealership since he was 16, and my mother has been a teacher for as long as I can remember. Hard work was instilled in me from the day I was born. I often tell people the Underwood family motto is: “If you’re not at least five minutes early, you’re late.” I’ve seen firsthand the long hours and dedication that go into every dollar earned — and I’ve also seen the struggles of living paycheck to paycheck, sacrificing savings, and watching retirement slip away.
Growing up, I was taught the traditional mindset around money — go to school, get a job, buy a house, save in an IRA, and hope it all works out by retirement. That formula had worked for generations, so it made sense to follow it. But as I got older, I started to realize those old rules didn’t hold up in today’s world. The financial landscape had changed — and the traditional playbook wasn’t keeping up. As a lifelong learner, I set out to understand how money really works.
What I discovered was eye-opening. The financial system isn’t what most people think it is — and the scariest part, we are never taught how it really works. The truth I uncovered led me to a new way of thinking about money and investing — a philosophy I now call True Diversification. Today, I’m on a mission to not only teach it, but to walk alongside others in their financial journey. This path is what ultimately led me to launch Truly Diversified Wealth Management.
